WAKA CO-ED

The plan entering 2017 was to put together our first Co-Ed team. The first attempt at having a Co-Ed team fell apart in 2016 as we lost all of our female players just before the season started. We changed the roster a bit and thought we had the right mix of men and women to compete.

It didn't take long and we had already lost 2 of our women to scheduling conflicts and another who could only play every other week. In a scramble we were able to find some women to help out each week to help us go 10-2 on the season. Entering into the playoffs it became clear that we hadn't planed far enough in advance for some of the scheduling issues that had plagued us during the year. We ended up winning our first playoff game and then had for forfeit our next 2 games as our rostered players weren't able to make the games.

On a whole the season was a success as we won (a lot) more then we lost and had some fun playing together.

WAKA E TOUNAMENT TEAM

WAKA > 2017

The WAKA E ranked Tourney team was started in 2016. It was a team that was starting to really come together. At the start of 2018 the team was really fleshed out and a new roster was set The team played a full tourney schedule from the Spring all the way up to the Nationals on Labor Day. From the start this team was in every single game they played.

WAKA 3.0

2017 Saw the first year WAKA would run 2 totally separate teams. The WAKA "Delta" & "Echo" teams were formed to be able to dedicate a team to getting us to the ASA Nationals in both the D & E divisions. Members from both teams would play on WAKA teams in multiple leagues during the spring and fall. 2017 would also see WAKA enter 7 total spring league teams. WAKA started 2017 very strong but it wouldn't take long for injuries to start piling up. 21 of the rostered 52 players went down with some sort of injury in the spring. Teams had to really find ways to keep winning during this unlucky stretch. 3 of the 7 league teams managed to win a title. With all the success WAKA had been having in years past it was feeling like a down year but all 3 Ship's were well earned.
